I mean just close your eyes, and think are you safe?
In your home, in your society, in your state, in your country, what do you think?
Well!! I can surely say that I am
not safe. Nowadays we can easily see monsters roaming around us. In our house
we are afraid of relatives, when we go out we are afraid of strangers. We always depend
on our brothers, father, husband about our safety. Without them, can you imagine
what will happen to us? As an example, you surely have heard about Twinkle
Sharma.

This incident happened in Aligarh,
UP, India. That toddler had to pay the debt with her life. You know what,
nowadays, these kinds of incidents are normal. We can easily hear about rape, murder or revenge. But are these things going to change? Who do you think is responsible
for this? The government, the society, the criminal mindset or you. When we
think about a change in our country why don't we change?
Hey girls! I want to ask
you a question - when girls get raped or murdered or anything happens with a
girl, who is responsible for this, you gonna say the person who does this, but
ask yourself that very question, don't repeat others' answers. Now, don't you
think in some manner we too are responsible? If someone thinks that
girls are weak - whose fault it is? Their mentality? No, it's your fault because you
didn't show them your power.
Now think, girls are an icon of weakness, am I
wrong? Now don't tell me the bullshit about women empowerment. Deep down we all
know the truth. [ Women in India represent 29 percent of the labor force, down
from 35 percent in 2004. More than half of the work done by women in India is
unpaid, and almost all of it is informal and unprotected. Women are not well
represented in most sectors, including business leaders. (source- Google) ]
And yes! I agree that there
are some women that we must be proud of and we see them as the icon of women
empowerment but just for a moment hear me out- Girls are weak not only
physically but also mentally. First of all our elders feed in our mind that we are
different from boys, we have a limit that we can't cross and that limit is called
"sunder sushil ladki".
And when we grow up we only
consider and focus on girlish things in our life. How many of you had joined the
self-defense classes in the summer vacation? I am sure 90% of girls had joined,
dance, cooking, and you know, the activities that everybody calls "girlish stuff
".Why don't we think about our safety and join self-defense classes,
boxing classes, martial arts? Why do we have to depend on our male kinsmen about
our safety? Why can't we protect ourselves? Why don't you understand that we can't change others but we do can change ourselves? In order to protect ourselves from bad things, we have to? So Wake
up from fake fairy tale and make your own legend.
If someone attacks you I am
sure that every girl will give her 100% to escape from there but we know that, that is not enough. But what if we know some fighting skills! Don't you think then we can protect ourselves far better? So, be strong
and for that, first, you have to be strong mentally. You have to stop thinking
that you are weak, that you don't have the strength, the power against men. Then
build yourself physically.
Don't depend on anyone about your safety.
Now you
are thinking, how a toddler or a child can protect themselves on their
own. The answer is simple - No, they can't, but the adults can, can't they? In
this age of monsters, we have to protect our children from them.
We have to be more aware otherwise the news channels are waiting for another
monstrous incident.
